Community Service Clubs
About Us
Through our Community Visitors Scheme, volunteers visit older people living in the community to provide companionship for those who may have become lonely because of many different reasons such as limited family and social contact, for cultural reasons, or through a disability.
The interests of volunteers are matched with the interests of the people they visit to support the natural development of friendships. These shared interests may include, for example, reading, hobbies, discussing current events and news, playing board games or going for a walk.
Visits occur at times suitable for both the volunteer and the client. There is a minimum commitment of one visit per fortnight.
Who is eligible?
Individuals living in the ACT who are being supported by a Community Home Care Package are eligible to have a Community Visitor. Referrals can be received from Home Care Package providers, their clients or family and friends.
