About Us

The Toowoomba Community Child and Youth Mental Health Service (Toowoomba Community CYMHS) offers a free and confidential service specialising in the assessment and treatment of children and young people up to 18 years of age who are experiencing, or at risk of developing, severe and complex emotional, behavioural or mental health problems.

The Toowoomba Community CYMHS multi-disciplinary team consists of Child Psychiatrists and mental health professionals offering a range of services tailored to the needs of the child or young person and their carers, including mental health assessment, individual therapy, group work, interagency consultation and referral to other agencies.

The Service includes the:

  • Toowoomba Community CYMHS team based at the Unara Health Village, Toowoomba Hospital
  • Evolve Therapeutic Services team
  • CYMHS Day Program
  • Yannanda Adolescent Inpatient Unit
  • Yannanda Education Service

Referrals can be made by doctors, schools, health professionals and families, and young people can self refer. To make a referral or to enquire about the Toowoomba Community CYMHS service, please contact the Toowoomba Community CYMHS team Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.00pm, by phone on 4616 6843. Outside of these hours please contact the Acute Care Team on 4616 5210, or, in the case of an acute mental health episode, please contact the Emergency Department of the nearest hospital or the Queensland Ambulance Service.
