About Us

Since the opening in 2014, the Garden City Mosque was declared to be always welcoming and open to all people. Wider communities of Toowoomba cheerfully received this declaration. Suggestions on that day demanded more of similar events. Consequently, Mosque continued to hold Open Day every year. This program along with other similar activities are not but a demonstration of togetherness and social inclusiveness of Australia in general and of Toowoomba in particular. These programs are platforms for faith leaders to address diverse communities. Other dignitaries from local council, government and academia share experience with Muslims. During such activities people sit together know each other, discuss and share ideas while enjoying complementary colourful dishes served by Muslims. Such a gathering creates and fosters new mateship, dismisses fear of unknown, and sets up solid ground for Team Australia. This also increases community awareness of benefits of multiculturalism, fosters community cohesion, and supports equal access to rights and opportunities by people of faith and no faith. Such event undoubtedly is an example of Queensland’s multicultural identity and directly promotes Toowoomba to be the "ideal multicultural society".
